You have changed your diet, taken the supplements and medication, timed your ovulation yet you can see that your period is here…again. It feels like your body is letting you down, actually it feels like God is letting you down. Why does it have to be so difficult?!
It is God’s will for you to get pregnant and build a family. When He created our fore parents Adam and Eve, “God blessed them, saying to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it (Genesis 1: 28). The fact that this verse comes right after the Genesis account of how God created Man and Woman, is very significant. It is a key if not the key mission that God gave to us.
So why is it so difficult to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy? Unfortunately, as a result of original sin, God’s plans took a different turn. When sin entered the world, so did disharmony (see Genesis 3:14-19). Now we have to contend with environmental factors, genetic disorders, strain from work, strain from our relationship.
How does this apply to you and I? Our environment, our inherited genes, our stressful lifestyle can make getting pregnant so much more difficult.
This leads me to this very important point; it is not enough for you to eat well and take supplements. It is not even enough for us to do fertility-friendly exercises. We need to regain as much of the harmony that we were created to have. This means taking care of ourselves physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. It means having a lifestyle that supports and nourishes us – a healthy fertility diet, managing stress effectively, supportive relationships, ensuring that your career lights you up not drain you and a vibrant faith in God.
Think of the natural balance that Eve had in the Garden of Eden when she was in full communion with God, with her environment, with her work and with her husband. You are called to that balance too; not just so that you can get pregnant but because in doing so you can be the best version of yourself and fulfill your potential like God wants you to. Because when you are at that place, you are healthier, happier and it becomes even more easier to be a mum.
It is what God wants for you and you can ask Him for it. Ask Mary to support you just like she received and gave support to her cousin Elizabeth when they were both pregnant. Nobody understands pregnancy and motherhood better than she does.
